1.  Powerful visualization begins in the heart

The quality of the feeling that coincides with your visualization matters most.  If you are picturing a new job or a new relationship, it is not the image that matters most.  The image is a SUPPORT to the feeling.  That is the key.  Allow yourself to feel.  Get friendly with the feeling of success.  Get intimate with it.

2.  Fuel your goal by enjoying the process of creating it

The pure satisfaction you attain from harnessing the active energies during your visualization is the rocket fuel which attracts your desire.  Breathe life into the manifesting process itself and you will be happy where you are. Love the process of visualizing, and old doubts will no longer freeze you or sabotage you.  When you enjoy the process, this may seem to your mind like you are “slowing it down” but actually you are speeding it up.

3.  Checking for your Goal is a signal to put more focus inside

Have you ever visualized a new goal and then looked for its manifestation minutes later and then felt disappointed or frustrated that the law of attraction does not work so well?!   Most of us have.  Realize that constant checking for your goal creates a feeling of doubt around it.  To shift out of this doubt and the habit of checking to see if your goal has come true, take your focus back to the inside.  Forget the outside results!  No results are required to manifest results!  Tell that to yourself often.  Instead of looking for results, get comfortable with the notion that a Path of Opportunity will unfold through connecting with the energy during your visualization.  Doors will open.  Synchronicity will emerge.

4.  Don’t Give Your Power Away

Visualization is a tool to access your own Divine Creative Power.  It is a way to signal Larger Aspect of yourself, your Higher Self, to draw to you what you want.  It’s different than prayer.  Visualization is a way to access your spiritual power.  It is your inner power and it is the power of focus, intent and magic.  Your creative power is not above you or outside of you, it is closer than close.  It is in the blend of outside and inside.  It is here.  It is in the feeling of being alive.  When you feel Who you Are, your Divine Essence, your visualization takes on a much stronger power.  You are no longer operating from your mind, you are then operating from your Universal Self.  That is your power.

5.  Let Interruptions Empower Your Visualizations

Suppose you are in a calm state visualizing a goal and all of a sudden a car alarm goes off.  Don’t assume this is a bad thing.  If you approach interruptions (of any kind) with the right inner stance, they can energize and deepen your creative power.  The key is to not go into “victim mode” or “poor me mode.”  Notice the interruption and then COME BACK TO YOURSELF.  Come back inside to the awareness.  Let the outside noise or reality take you deeper.  You do this by not fighting the cause of the interruption and pouring all your creative intent back into the Center of yourself.  Keep your focus on who you are the outside will not be a barrier.

Have you ever taken a moment to think what fear really is? You know, that annoying feeling you get, whether it’s a clenched stomach or a flush of heat…. What IS that?  Is it preempting a bad situation? Is it a self-degrading perception? Well…yes & yes, but these are only by-products of the actual root cause. That root cause of fear is an insecurity that lies deep within you, one you very possibly might not even be aware of, announcing its presence. To deal with this insecurity, you might want to try the ‘’Inside Out’’ approach.  This is something that has worked very well for me and I would like to share it with you now.

Give it shot, what do you have to lose?

The Inside Out Approach to Letting Go of Fear

The next time you sense fear, don’t focus on the negative aspect of that fear ( i.e. the actual occurrence or unfulfilled goal or the bad thing you are worried will happen), nor should you focus on the self-degrading perception/conclusion that you reached as a result of your focus on the physical manifestation.  Instead, the moment you start feeling fear, take a deep breath, take a mental step back & ask yourself, “What part of my being does this specific fear come from?”  “From Whence does this fear arise?”

Just ask and be still.  Ask and allow the answer to be revealed to you.

Take a few more deep breaths…   Trust that there IS a way out of fear…

Once you have inquired about the core source of the fear, repeat to yourself a positive affirmation that will replace that ‘’agitated’’ part of your being. For example, replace ‘’I’m not worth it’’ with ‘’I’m confident and worth it.”  Kick out ‘’Things never work out for me’’ with ‘’Pleasant occurrences are a norm in my life.’’

By redirecting your focus, you will actually be changing the energy coming out of your aura.  You will be discharging old fears.  Your attention is like fuel, so if you focus your attention on the positive, the feeling of fear will begin to disappear.  Believe it or not, your emotional reality AND the physical world WILL rearrange itself accordingly.

This process takes patience and commitment.  Start with small things:  Practice shifting your attention away from a small worry and onto a more optimistic thought….  Build up to the so-called “big problems” in your life.

Don’t be discouraged if you find this harder to do in certain areas of your life than others, this doesn’t mean that change won’t occur. It only means that the ‘’root’’ thought about this specific area of your life is more deeply embedded in your subconscious,  so it might take a bit more time for change to occur. Remember, each of us have our own mountains to climb, our own areas of challenge. But if you were brought to it, then most definitely you can get through it – you just need to pay attention to how your consciousness operates.

On this beautiful spring morning?

From Lesson Four: The Treasure is in Each Moment of the Journey

The following book excerpt is about my first experience with a 10-day silent Vipassana meditation
course in Nepal in 1996 with my then monk boyfriend who later became my husband. Since then,
I’ve gone on to sit dozens of these courses, including silent courses as long as 45-days. I never
expected that would be the case after the difficult time I had during my first meditation course.
Since then, Vipassana meditation has become a very important part of my life.

No expectations. I thought that had already been made quite clear to me. After all, how could I
have ever expected to be on a dirt road, in the back of a cattle truck in Nepal, headed to a ten-
day meditation course with my boyfriend—a monk disguised as a tourist?

But I hadn’t completely learned that lesson yet. I did have expectations.

Wow, ten days of silent meditation is going to be divine, I thought.

Despite the austerity described in the brochure, I had this idea that once I closed my eyes and
crossed my legs, I’d be in perfect peace.

So the rules are a little strict, I thought. Who cares? I’m about to experience ten beautiful days
of silence! Besides, I reasoned, all I have to do is sit and be quiet. After our treacherous hike
through rivers and over mountains, that’ll be a breeze!

But soon after the course started, I learned that the brochure left out a few things (or I had
somehow overlooked the fine print). I learned that we ate only twice a day. That we had to sit on
a thin pad on a concrete floor for up to twelve hours. That the showers only had ice-cold water,
which shot out of a tap in the wall as if designed to hose off livestock. My fantasies of the ecstasy
I would be feeling on this path toward enlightenment quickly dissolved.

This wasn’t bliss. This was boot camp.

And what a crazy mind I was carrying—“monkey mind,” as the Buddhists call it. For ten days, I
was everywhere but there.

Men and women were separated from each other, and I longed for Su Nim. I wondered how he
was doing, but we couldn’t speak. I’d get a glimpse of him in the small room that all the foreigners
went to for the evening discourse. I’d hear him laugh at a joke during the dhamma talk, and I
so wanted to curl up next to him. But I was meant to be alone on this course. I was there for
myself—though I was starting to learn that “myself ” was full of a lot of garbage, and that on this
course, there was nowhere to hide from what was inside. Anger, pain, lust, lethargy; my emotions
ran the gamut.

Finally, the relentless pain in my knees from sitting long hours convinced me that this retreat
center was really a torture chamber.

But I had no one to blame but myself: I came here of my own free will, and no one at the retreat
was forcing me to do anything. I wasn’t even asked to sit in a certain position. I could even
meditate in my room if I really wanted.

Forget climbing the highest mountain pass in the world. Forget forging a river cold and dangerous

enough to threaten the life of anyone crazy enough to enter it. The difficulty I felt traversing my
own inner mountains and rivers far surpassed those travails. This, hands down, was the hardest
thing I’d ever done.

On the last day of the course, my eyes met Su Nim’s for the first time in ten days.
“I love you,” he announced, smiling and full of light.

“Me too,” I replied, eyes filled with tears, trying to feign bliss. And then, “Can we please get out of
here?”

Su Nim saw through my fake joy and straight into my pain, and at that moment, he gave me
the most compassionate smile. He was my guardian angel on this journey, my guide who was
patiently waiting for me to open my eyes and finally see myself.

When I contemplate the life of our ancestors and how society evolved over the millenia, I see how a complex tapestry of events has woven a story we have carried in our subconscious minds for generations. A major shift in consciousness is happening right now – the way we have chosen to live on our planet no longer works. It is falling apart at an ever increasing pace. We must now summon up all the courage, the strength and the knowledge we have gathered over the ages and undertake a complete transformation of the consciousness of duality and separation that has existed for thousands of years  to a consciousness of Absolute Oneness and Union.

We are poised on the brink of a leap into a dimly-remembered reality of harmonious living with our planet and all living things. We are opening our eyes and seeing clearly once again that under the mask of physical form we are all made of the same miraculous substance.

Anthropologists around the world have painted a picture of early human societies as peaceful and harmonious, living lightly upon the earth that provided for them.  How could mankind have taken such a radical turn from this way of life to being a rabid destroyer of all living things in its path? No matter where I looked, when all the masks of illusion mankind has worn fell away, the common denominator was separation from the One Source of All Life. We fell asleep and forgot our connection to All Life, and have wandered for centuries in the desert of illusion that we can control everything in our environment.

How different would the story of mankind be if we had always been aware of this Oneness of Life, instead of falling into a belief in separation from our environment and each other? And yet , when viewed from the vantage point of Oneness, the lessons we have learned from the illusion of duality that has been necessary for us to re-awaken to the unitary vibration that is allowing us to again perceive the vastness and intensity of the Truth that every plant, every animal, every spark of Life  is connected by an infinite web of self-love, a desire to live and create more of the Divine substance of life. We are at the threshold – we must either accept the infinite greatness of our Divinity, or die out like the dinosaurs and become compost for the next species that inherits Mother Earth.

Lets take a brief look at history and the winding journey mankind travelled which has gotten us to this pivotal point of massive enlightenment or complete destruction.

“In The Beginning” cooperation among the people of  the small communities early humans lived in was a necessity for all to survive, therefore, all members of the tribe – the farmer, the hunter, the weaver, the gather of water, and so on – were respected as equals. And yet there was a difference between the roles of woman and men. First, woman were the conduit of the mysteries of Life, the bearer of children, the gatherer of plants to eat and to heal. All  these and many more roles women played in creating society. It is easy to imagine how, in prehistoric times, women had a deep and sacred connection with the seasons and the Moon. Their menstrual cycles and the birth of children were magically produced when the Moon was full, and men and women alike were in awe of this mystery. The first religions were created around this observation, and women were revered and respected as representatives of the Divine. At this time neither man or woman connected the act of sexual union with the birth of a child. There was no source of information other than experience, and how does one connect a sexual act performed in the dead of winter with the birth of a child the following summer?

While the men went out to hunt and and protect their communities, women stayed closer to home. They developed a gentler form of society that honored the mysteries of nature, and emphasized cooperation and inter-dependence. Carrying this paradigm within their hearts, they were able to receive the Divine knowledge needed to recognise which plants were for eating , healing, dyeing, etc. and which were to be avoided. They knew when to plant and when to reap. They listened to the inner voices and created the first forms of agriculture and the stability of a permanent home to raise their children in.  Women have always had this harmonious connection with our environment, (our intuition, some call it) when we can lay our egos aside and listen to our Divine Self for guidance through any experience. Our female ancestors spent most of their time in this state, and accepted every piece of wisdom with respect and without judgement.

The link between the men and the environment in which they lived was different. Outside the safe confines of the village, the laws of Nature were harsh. Kill or be killed was the rule that guided men as they guarded their communities from predators or marauders. Imagine feeling powerless and scared most of the time as they must have. When a person has to fight for their survival and their food on a daily basis, the mystical elements of life become irrelevant. Women, acting on their intuition, continually reminded the community of the need for harmony with  nature, hoping to maintain the connection to the Divine by both male and female. Instead  of producing balance, this only deepened the chasm of separation and duality between them as it so contradicted the reality of the men’s day to day lives.

Thus began the split between men and women, between the physical and the intangible. A great rush of power washed over man when he no longer felt his life was at the whim of an arbitrary force which he could not understand or control. He learned to kill whatever threatened him or his people. Men had taken the first step towards trying to control nature and the environment.  The ego became the primary force for survival, the external  more important than interior experiences.  The rush of killing instead of being killed was intoxicating. It was simple, it was tangible, and gave rise to feelings of superiority and separateness in men. While women chose to listen to their internal guidance to survive and thrive in harmony with Mother Nature – “Power from Within” – men had found ‘Power Over’ – the path of conquest and subjugation, of destruction rather than creation.

We can’t know when our ancestors at last realized that both male and female were both needed to create an offspring, but the ego driven male saw it as the perfect chance to subjugate the representatives of the Divine mysteries. When fear of what was not understood (the sacredness of Life’s mysteries) and separation from the source of Life merged together, the ego became a force that would rule over all Life for centuries. Women were no longer revered for their connection with the mysteries. Men began to see them as “the other,” and therefore to be subdued and controlled. Soon all life began to experience this subjugation as the patriarchal point of view replaced the harmony of a matriarchal society in which everyone and everything was treated with equal respect.

Men with their superior physical strength and linear thinking have accomplished remarkable things in spite of  operating from a belief in ‘power over.”  They have built countless cities filled with massive edifices in order to express their egoic ideas of the Divine. Without the male drive to create more, to compete, to be better than, to will anything to be done, we would not be living in the world we do today. While technology has its dark side in the form of ever more powerful weapons and inventions that do more harm than good, it has also brought incredible advances in medicine and many other sciences that allow us to live with safety and conveniences that our ancestors even 200 years ago could not have imagined.

But when the dual energies (“power from within” and “power over”) are not in balance, extreme suffering is the result. Men constructed religions based on fear to control the masses and convince them that if they did not obey their earthly masters they would face divine punishment in the hereafter. These religions of fear and separation from the Divine gave rise to genocides and inquisitions that tried to annihilate any form of “power from within.”  From the time the Divine was genderized to be a male Creator rather than a  Universal Creative Energy that gave rise to all Life, through the witch burnings of the Middle Ages to the countless wars of modern history, millions have been murdered in the name of religions that speak of Love, but act from fear.

The insanity of the wars the Patriarchal consciousness has unleashed upon mankind is beyond description, and yet the countless volumes written about the history of mankind speak of wars being fought in the name of justice, trade, land boundaries, and so on. Some are rationalizations used to make the concept of war palatable to the masses that carry out the destruction of whole populations and the crippling devastation of Mother Earth. Others are more even-handed, yet do not look beyond the surface of war and try to understand what could cause such destruction and chaos.

Fortunately, across the millenia there have been a few brave enlightened individuals who have graced us for a few moments in time, who have reminded us of the Divine Potential we all possess. Their words and deeds have kept the Divine Flame lit until the time when enough of us wake up and see the ultimate Oneness of All Life. That time must be now, or it will be too late.

A new balance of the dual energies of ‘Power Over’ and ‘Power from Within’ is converging into a unique frequency that harmonizes with the vibration that created the Universe. The gentle  non-judgmental guidance of intuition must be balanced with action which changes things as they are when appropriate.  The alarm clock has bellowed it’s wake up call all over the world, and people from every walk of life, religious belief, race and culture are answering from within their hearts. Their voices call out, saying, “We are all alike. We want a peaceful place to live, to grow our food, and raise our children, to live in harmony with our neighbors near at hand and across the globe. Our purpose as an aware species is to learn to love as the Divine Creator who loved all Life into manifestation. The time is at hand to accept our Divine potential, and live knowing Heaven and Earth are One. The journey to the peak of this Divine mountain has been long and hard, but we have survived and now stand at the very top, proclaiming for all our ancestors, “IT IS DONE. WE ARE ONE, AGAIN AND FOREVER!’  Namaste’

Yesterday when I went for a walk I noticed a great fluttering out of the corner of my eye. When I stopped to look, a red-tail hawk had landed in a tree across the creek from me. She sat there for a few minutes while I watched, marveling at her beauty and grace and wishing I had my glasses so I could see her better. As if reading my thoughts, she flew across the creek and landed on the branch of a tree not twenty feet away from me. My heart stopped. I stood there in awe of this amazing creature so close to me. After a few minutes, she took off again in flight, wings spread so that the sun filtered through the feathers of her wingtips.

I’ve always believed that when I’m given the opportunity to glimpse nature up close it’s reassurance that something greater than myself is at work in the world. It feels like a gift to me and it was an inspiring way to begin my day. It also makes me confident that everything that’s happening in my life is supposed to be exactly the way it is. I was fortunate enough to be walking at just the right moment the red-tail hawk was seeking a place to rest.

Spotting red-tailed hawks on power lines makes me feel both blessed and saddened. Humans have encroached on their habitats in such a way that a hawk I might rarely see, unless I was in open space, is now one I glimpse more often than not. While I’m eternally grateful for the chance to view wildlife, I sometimes find myself wishing they still had a place of their own invisible to human eyes.

And yet, the gift that day was one I’ll continue to treasure, a gift of beauty and reverence and the eternal reminder that we are honored to live among them.

After school let out, it was time to look for work.  In the forefront of my mind I still had visions of my last corporate environment. People were demoralized and filled with the terror of losing their jobs. Part of me dreaded going back to work in the corporate world, but I felt I had to do it.  My new certificate didn’t do me a whole lot of good, as entry-level positions were few, however I did have a variety of skills to work with.  I would post my resume as one position and if I got no response, I would post as a different position.  I had started my blog and began facilitating, but I was more focused on being ‘unemployed’ and looking for a ‘real’ job.  In my mind, I couldn’t earn a living unless I worked in a corporate environment.   It seemed no matter what tactic I took there was no interest for me in the job market.

I began to feel a little desperate and unwanted, but part of me knew I was blocking myself by believing I had to have a corporate job.

After much contemplation, I got my answer.  When people asked me what I did, my response wasn’t, “I work in IT”, or “I’m between jobs”, or even “I facilitate classes”, my response was, “I’m unemployed.”  Not only that, but I said it apologetically, as if I was a victim!  That was quite a revelation to me!  Luckily, I knew what to do.  I did some inner work to find the root, and started to transform those beliefs.   I realized I had no identity or focus.  I was applying to several different types of jobs without conviction to any one type of work or position.   I was torn in putting energy into my own business because I felt like I had to have a  ‘real job’.   I was like a plastic bag in the wind; flying in whatever direction I was pulled in the moment.   This left me in a holding position.  Until I made a commitment to myself, I wasn’t going anywhere.

Finally, I made the decision to own me.  I chose to have fun in life, I was no longer going to follow rules that didn’t work for me.  I made a conscious effort to go back to my youth and get the fun times, the times when the day would go by in a flash.  The unique things I could do well and enjoyed tremendously like creativity, writing, and art.  I decided to give new life to my online activity, facilitate more classes, and re-awaken my art quilting.  I decided to own who I am, be who I am, and know that I could have multiple streams of income doing what I love to do.  I chose to support my family and myself by being what I love to be.

In order to fully embrace my new choices, I had to leave some old energy behind.  I shifted the belief  “I’m unemployed” to “I am a writer/blogger and facilitator of transforming beliefs.”   In order to own this fully and be excited about it, I had to dig deep, and realize I bought into having several limiting beliefs about being able to support myself, having the capacity to run a business, as well as being able to produce what I needed to in order to be have a viable business.  I shifted those using several techniques EFT, Matrix Energetics, Love and Above visualization techniques, as well as some Access Consciousness clearing statements.

By shifting the existing beliefs I had, I was able to free myself of certain expectations that were not mine, but of my parents or even society.  I was holding on to those expectations so tightly that I wasn’t allowing in the possibilities of what could be.  I acknowledge some fear still exists, but I won’t fight them any longer.   I’ll play with the fear to see what can shift.  When I do that, I allow even more possibilities to come to me and strengthen my beliefs in who I can be.

Our lives are an outer manifestation of our inner thoughts and beliefs. The shape of our existence has been carved by behavioral patterns that we have been developing since we were children. Our early life experiences determine the perception that we have of ourselves today and consequently the way we think and act. The first and arguably most important step to take on your journey towards enlightenment is to learn how to separate our true self from the ego mind. It is possible and simple to free yourself from the ego mind and to counteract the ingrained negative beliefs that you may hold. As you do this the light of your consciousness will shine brighter. This is the definition of freedom.

We all have an internal monologue of thoughts that have been created by the things we have been through. When we experience physical or emotional abuse, abandonment, grief or loss, the ego-mind clings onto the negative feelings we felt and feeds our pride. This is especially true if the hurt that we experienced resonates with a pain pattern of our soul. It is not uncommon for the voice in our heads to become our own worst enemy. This constant drain on our energy and light can leave us sad, anxious and in ill health.

The ego mind is conditioned by a combination of our past and the collective cultural mind-set that we have inherited through religious background, family and friends. To move away from this mind-set we must come to the realization that all that exists is the now. The past only had any significance or power when it was the now. In the same way we should apply this to the future and not become consumed with worrying about what might happen. In reality the future is meaningless to us until it becomes the now and there is only so much that we can plan for.

Using powerful positive affirmations to implant new beliefs can support us towards what we want to achieve. As a starting point I clear my mind with this thought:  “The past is gone. It cannot ever come back or be altered. It is what it is and tomorrow is always uncertain. I am focused on the now.”

We should teach ourselves not to take the running commentary of the ego mind too seriously and our sense of true self should certainly not be defined by it. Once we become conscious of our thoughts then we will able to observe them from a place beyond our mind as though we are watching a play being acted out. Do not place judgment just enjoy the realization of this new found separateness. Be aware of any repetitive thoughts created by the ego mind and be aware that you are witnessing these thoughts from somewhere inside yourself much deeper than this thought. The thought has no power over you.

In his book ‘The Power of Now’ Eckhart Tolle says on consciousness “Nobody can do it for you. But if you are fortunate enough to find someone who is intensely conscious, if you can be with them and joining them in a state of presence, that can be helpful and will accelerate things. In this way your light will quickly grow stronger.”

If you want to change your life, you can start with this moment of now, see this moment as a moment of your power and of your choice. Start from a place of loving yourself. Sit down on your own in front of a mirror and spend some time examining your face. See the sincerity in your eyes and feel the warmth emanating from your loving gaze. Then redirect this energy back into the universe. Take a moment to give thanks for the air in your lungs and other wonders that we all sometimes take for granted that have become second nature.

Decide what your affirmation will be. To begin with it might help to use shorter affirmations that are easier to remember. It might also help if you say your affirmation aloud to yourself and if it works for you then you can do this whilst looking in the mirror. Repeat your affirmation a few times each day. I like to do mine in the morning when I wake up and in the evening before I go to bed. Once you begin to use affirmations on a daily basis as part of your regular routine, you will find that your life will change. It is an excellent way to help you to achieve your dreams, improve the way you are feeling and it is one of the easiest ways to relieve stress.

The book “You Can Heal Your Life” by Louise Hay was my introduction to affirmations and I found it to be a good starting point. For those of you that have read the book you will be familiar with being “perfect, whole and complete”. At the end of each chapter you will find an affirmation relating to the topic covered.

“In the infinity of life where I am, all is perfect, whole and complete. I believe in a power far greater than I am that flows through me every moment of every day. I open myself to the wisdom within, knowing there is only One Intelligence in this Universe. Out of this One Intelligence comes all the answers, all the solutions, all the healings, all the new creations. I trust this Power and Intelligence, knowing that whatever I need to know is revealed to me, and that whatever I need comes to me in the right time, space and sequence. All is well in my world.” Louise Hay

Separating your true self from your ego mind will lead you to your inner sanctuary. Letting go of ego is the ultimate freedom.  You become awake to your truest Self.  It has always been there inside of you but you might have forgotten that it was there. It is a special place for you to connect and communicate with your higher self and your spirit.
