Good riddance, 2015
For me, 2015 has been an extraordinarily difficult year – death, illness, personal injury, legal battles, family problems, financial stress. My clients and friends have echoed similar tales of woe in 2015 with everything from custody fights, health crises, and career setbacks to multiple bereavements and abusive family situations.
In the larger world beyond our doorsteps, we’ve seen tragedy unfold in mass shootings, terrorist attacks, natural disasters, poachers threatening to silence whole species forever, and war refugees wandering hopeless and lost. It’s tempting to just write “2015” on a piece of paper this New Year’s Eve and toss it into the fireplace or burning bowl and watch it go up in smoke.
An Angelic Libation
While I used a crystal blade to etherically scrape the year’s debris from a client’s aura, Archangel Jophiel said, “This has been your martini year.” She provided the image of a cocktail shaker hurtling and rattling the stuff of our lives against its steel walls.
“Jophiel,” I said, “the drink had better be worth it.”
The Archangel smiled. “That’s up to you.”
Fertilizer in the Fields
We are being forcefully reminded that whatever refuse (substitute another word, if you like) has been pitched around us this year, we have the power to cast it like manure onto the good seeds we’ve sown. The worst-smelling stuff can be the makings of a sweet yield.
Archangel Gabriel advised me of our powers of emotional alchemy, the ability to spin lead into gold with our motivations, focused intentions, prayers, and indomitable spirit. He indicated that creative types particularly have this skill, and the key is in utilizing the energies of turmoil and lessons from restoration to make a larger and lasting legacy. We achieve this transcendence of circumstance when we stubbornly rise and rise again to channel our emotions into writing, teaching, painting, designing clothes, decorating a room, planning a garden, or learning to play music.
As an Angel concerned with beauty, Jophiel emphasized the need to surround ourselves with whatever we find beautiful – music, poetry, colors, scents – to elevate mood and raise focus. She advises that we consciously use beauty to help with our individual healing processes, whether that’s splurging on a lovely bouquet of our favorite flowers, indulging in a day of songs that uplift us, working with color and sound healing, or getting a new hairstyle that feels fresh and adventurous. Beauty is more than skin deep – it’s soul deep – and we need it for optimal health and wellbeing.
Circling the Wagons
The Goddess Hestia advises that we begin 2016 by stirring the coals of our homely hearths and reigniting the fires of faith, family, and friendship. Making home and family into a center of blessing and renewal gives us the safe space and psychosocial resources to begin again with light and hope.
For those like me who see an empty space this year at the family fireside, know that we have ingested the love that was shared with us in physical life, and from that nourishment has come an everlasting spiritual love. For every incarnated affection, there is an Agape adoration, the perfect and unending love that begins with our Creator and flows through the veins of all created beings housing soul. We are never parted from love, no matter the trajectory of any individual among us.
Happy New Year!
Welcome the lengthening light which will come regardless of whether we receive it or cast it away. The dawn of 2016 must bring something better – the drink of 2015 must be worth it – if we will it to be. It’s up to us, and we’re borne up by Angels and Infinite Love as we raise ourselves to joust again with our destiny. May a year of abundant love, Light, health, peace, happiness, and good fortune be upon us all!
