When Creative Spirit Meets the iPad

Now, I have no idea how others view the art images on this page, but to me they are cool, they were fun to make, and I am pleased with them.  That is all that ulitimately matters.  Don’t you think?

Most of them were made in a few minutes, some took me an hour or so to get the way I wanted them.  I had to combine several applications and techniques to make them.

My experience in creating them was a sense of real freedom.  I felt the joy of making art, letting things flow, and loving the creative process.  I felt like a child finger painting  and having a blast!

You have to understand, I have not felt that feeling much in my life with regard to making art.   I have felt it with writing and in other areas, but not with artwork.  Now, suddenly I am feeling it much more!

A pen and a blank piece of paper can obviously give people this feeling too, but that only worked for me sometimes, during moments where I was present and just enjoying the creative flow.

Somehow, on the iPad, that sense of creative flow is easier to get into for me.  Perhaps it is the sense of touch (the touch screen on the ipad) and how naturally easy, fun and creative it is.  It’s kenetic, it’s natural, it’s like just waving a magic wand….   It really is like little kids doing finger painting…

Even my eight year old nephew loves doing art on the iPad.

I recently took my iPad to a party and another guy and I were playing with it, and he had the same experience.  He was blown away that he could make something so cool and that it was not difficult.  Years of negative programming, dropped in an instant.

It is such a great feeling when an old self-judgment pops like a bubble.   You may not have realized you were trapped by it, and then suddenly you are beyond it.

Wow!   And this is just the beginning.

What is Happening Spiritually Here?

My belief is this:  Our soul, our spirit, our inner core is naturally creative, innately artistic, inventive AND accepting of the process.  Our true Being, in our Heart of hearts, just enjoys the creative power it feels.  It does not care what other people think and it eternally lives OUTSIDE of old negative programming.

When you access this core, you are in the creative flow.  To access it, you have to be in the present moment, enjoying the step you are on and allowing yourself to be a vessel of inspiration.  You are not worried about what other people think:  You are thinking less and feeling more.

It’s true magic, and it is occurring for more and more people with the help of this new technology.  How?  I believe it is because the touch screen is a comfortable and familiar way to use your hands, thus putting you in touch with your body and your feelings, thus making you more Present in the Moment, thus allowing you to enjoy the creative flow.  This new technology, in this case the iPad, is a “Spiritually Empowering, Creativity Enhancing” device, and it helps us tap into the Infinite realm inside us.

The True Muse is inside of us.  Yet this new technology and our relationship with it helps us access it.

Music in Your Soul

I have also, in the past (though not quite as much as in art) had the limiting idea that “I can’t play music well”

This thought too is dissolving, thanks to my iPad.

In minutes I can create cool beats and music-  No lessons required.

Though I have not tried it yet, I have heard that an iPad App called “Thumb Jam” is even more powerful, and that it takes music to a whole new level.  Apparently, whether you are a total beginner or a professional musician, you can create the most amazing music and sounds with it.

iPads and Creative Writing

Can creative writing be enhanced on an iPad?  You bet!  I have just begun to explore this myself, but I believe it can help a lot and there is potential for more.

I read, for example,  that Eckhart Tolle, well known author and spiritual teacher, has started posting on facebook because of his iPad.  He is a man who wrote all his books using a pen and paper.  Before he got his iPad he had to have someone else make his posts for him on Facebook.  Now he does it himself.  (This is my understanding based on what the Admins wrote on his Facebook page)

The iPad seems to be a happy medium, it is somewhere in-between using pen and paper and using a laptop.  The iPad is like a hybrid.

Where are creative expression and experience headed with this new technology?  It will be interesting to watch what unfolds as technology continues to enhance and intertwine with our creative spirits.
