Crystals emit two different types of electricity – piezoelectricity and pyroelectricity – and can help to recalibrate the living electrical systems in our bodies. Crystal healing modalities are a valuable complimentary therapy for human and non-human animals.
Energies from the crystal and mineral kingdoms blend beautifully with sound healing, aromatherapy, acupuncture, massage, and Reiki. Crystal healing techniques can be easily tailored for all species.
A few cautions: Never leave small crystals where animals could choke on them, or swallow them and cause a bowel obstruction. Also be aware that some crystals are toxic if handled or ingested. (For example, cinnabar contains mercury which can be absorbed through the skin, and actinolite may contain asbestos). Make sure the crystals or minerals you use are not radioactive.
The following are favorite techniques I recommend to my clients:
Crystal wand chakra massage: A crystal wand that is pointed on one end and rounded on the other can be used to clear and recharge when rotated over a specific chakra first counter-clockwise point up and then clockwise point down.
Electric salt or selenite lamps, placed in areas where animals sleep or spend a lot of time, ionize and purify the environment while adding calming, restorative, and protective energies. These can help alleviate anxiety, promote relaxation, and aid in restful sleep.
Holding a crystal against an animal’s body while performing Reiki or just cuddling will impart the crystal’s electrical impulses to the animal’s body.
Animal collars embellished with crystals can provide continuous energizing.
Charge an animal’s water with crystal energy. Place a crystal inside a sealed, waterproof container and then place that inside a container of water. (This “dual-container” or “indirect method” prevents harmful chemicals from leaching into the water from the crystals and also protects crystals that are not impervious to moisture).
Place the water in full sunlight for 2 hours or longer, remove the crystal, and you have a drinkable crystal elixir to add to your animal’s water bowl. Store the elixir in a dark-colored glass bottle with a secure lid. A little goes a long way.
(Amethyst and fluorite are not recommended for this technique as they fade in the sun. Setting them out overnight under a full moon is an alternative).
Crystal elixirs made with the indirect method can be added to a diffuser with aromatherapeutic oils, bath water, or the rinse cycle of the washing machine.
Crystal grids may be set up to focus healing energy near an animal’s bed or play areas as long as they are safely out of reach. They are also useful for sending distant healing.
