From the moment I picked up Julia Asante’s new book The Last Frontier: Exploring the Afterlife and Transforming Our Fear of Death I know this was an important book. Death is a topic so many of us don’t know how to talk about, let alone come to peace with.

“The reason we don’t know more about the afterlife and how to make contact is simple: we are scared to death about death.” ~Julia Assante

healing griefThe fear of death is so strong, especially in Western Society, but this in-depth book, with loads of true stories, anecdotes and insights, can cut through the fear of death like a sword.  What does it do for us when we break free of this fear?  What benefits await us when we completely move beyond the fear of death?

The benefits are huge.  If you follow any fear to its root, you are likely to find a fear of annihilation at the core.  We are scared of what other people think of us, we are scared of losing money, failing health, being alone, and so on.   But if you feel into each of these fears, and take them to the core, they all have a common thread.  They all funnel into a fear of death.  This book has the power to change that fear and open the door to love and trust.

This book helps us shine a light on the ways we avoid contact with the dead, and encourages us to open the door to true connection.  There is a wonderful chapter called simply:  It is Okay to Talk to the Dead.  The book is a wonderful permission slip to look at this topic from every angle and to prove to ourselves once and for all that there is life after death.

Telepathic Communication:  A Tool for Growth and Overcoming the Fear of Death

Asante is a gifted mystic and in her book she offers a ton of support and wisdom on using telepathy.  Telepathy is the tool for talking to the deceased.   It takes practice, but anyone can learn to do it.  Telepathy is a quiet communion in your heart and in your consciousness, while blended with the heart and consciousness of another.  Here is an example of a time when I used it successfully in my life:

My sister Susan died suddenly when she was 36.  I do feel her presence at times and I ask for her council sometimes.  One time, soon after she passed away, I asked her:  What is it like to be out of body?

Now, you have to understand, when my sister was alive on earth, she was a HUGE football fan!!  She loved the San Francisco 49ers with a passion!

Here is how our telepathic dialogue went:

Susan:  I am not exactly a football fan anymore….  but my personality is more or less intact.  I still have many of the same qualities I had when in a body.  However, there is SO MUCH MORE TO ME!  There is a clear recognition of who I am as a Soul and Spirit.  I am bigger than my personality.  I am my Universal Self.

Me:   What is that like?   How does it feel to be so your Universal Self?

My sister:  It feels like I am bathing in amniotic fluid, symbolically and literally.  I am buoyed and supported.  I am surrounded by Love.  I am bathing in Love.  This is the case for you too, but it can be harder to recognize when you are still human and in a body.

Me:  Do you still feel the way you used to  and get sad or mad, etc.?

Susan:  I still have feelings and emotions, but they are VERY fluid and they move and change freely.  They are just energies.  I am not stuck in them.  My heart is open and I am clear about the power of Love and how it is always available, to everyone.

the after life

That was just one of many lovely and informative talks I had with my sister, that helped me heal grief and overcome a fear of death and loss.  This type of experience, and so much more, is entirely possible when reading The Last Frontier.  This is a book to heal old fears once and for all, to calm your mind and shift your heart open.

“The eternal, individual personality dwells within an even greater Self, the oversoul, the entity that gives birth to the personality. The oversoul also works as command headquarters, generating and orchestrating the past, present and future lives of all it spawns…. The human soul cannot be bound, not even by itself, but surpasses all limits while containing all limits.”  ~An excerpt from The Last Frontier:  Exploring the Afterlife and Transforming Our Fear of Death

“Don’t be afraid of death; be afraid of an unlived life. You don’t have to live forever, you just have to live.” ~Natalie Babbitt

 life after death

“The reappearance of the crescent moon after the new moon; the return of the Sun after a total eclipse, the rising of the Sun in the morning after its troublesome absence at night were noted by people around the world; these phenomena spoke to our ancestors of the possibility of surviving death. Up there in the skies was also a metaphor of immortality.” ― Carl Sagan, Cosmos

Ancient Egyptians believed that upon death they would be asked two questions and their answers would determine whether they could continue their journey in the afterlife.~

~The first question was, “Did you bring joy?”

~The second was, “Did you find joy?”
