Top 5 Vegetarian Foods to Protect Yourself from Radiation Exposure: Tips to Prevent the Effects of Radiation Poisoning
With the recent earthquake in Japan and mixed reports on how you can protect yourself from the negative side effects of exposure to radiation, you may be left wondering how can I prevent radiation sickness? Well, the easiest way to protect yourself is your diet. A proper diet boosts your immune system and cleanses you from harmful toxins. Here is a list of the top five foods that can support your body and protect it from the effects of radiation.
1. Kelp - The first and foremost way to protect yourself from the effects of radiation exposure is to boost your iodine levels. One of the main benefits of kelp is that it by far exceeds all other foods as a source of iodine. Increasing iodine levels will insure that your body doesn’t absorb radioactive iodine-131 into your thyroid gland from the atmosphere or contaminated food sources. In addition to protecting your thyroid gland, kelp contains Sodium alginate, which can prevent the absorption of strontium-90 and detoxify it from your body.
Kelp Energy Bar Recipe
½ oz. kelp powder.
2 cups of any nuts or seeds of your choice.
½ cup of maple syrup.
1. Grind the kelp powder and nuts together in a blender and put in a mixing bowl.
2. Now stir and mix in the maple syrup.
3. When finished mixing thoroughly spread the mixture on an oiled cooking sheet to your desired thickness and bake for 20 minutes at 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
4. Cut your now finished kelp energy bars while still warm into any shape you’d like.
2. Beets – Beets have been shown to block the absorption of cesium-137. Not to mention beets can be very tasty and prepared in a number of ways. You can eat them raw, roast them in an oven wrapped in foil, or try a popular European soup called Borscht.
Vegetarian Borscht recipe (serves about 6)
1/2 large or 1 small yellow onion, sliced into half moons
2 cloves of garlic
1 pound beets, peeled and cut into matchsticks
2 medium red potatoes, cut into matchsticks
2 large cut into matchsticks\
2 teaspoons olive oil
1/2 head cabbage (red or white), sliced into small pieces
4 cups vegetable stock
juice of 1 and a half lemons
salt
coarsely ground black pepper
1. Sauté onions and garlic in olive oil in a large soup pot with a pinch of salt for two minutes. Add beets, carrots, potatoes, and another pinch of salt, then stir.
2. In the meantime bring vegetable stock to a boil. When the vegetables are soft add cabbage and the hot stock. Bring to boil, then simmer for 20-30 minutes.
3. Season to taste with salt pepper, and the lemon juice. Serve hot or cold.
3. Chlorella - Chlorella, like most other algae’s is high in chlorophyll which can reduce the effects of radiation by 50%. Chlorella also detoxifies the body from cesium-137. Chlorella can easily be added to your diet by eating chlorella tablets throughout your day. You can also get it in a powder form and dissolve it into a smoothie.
4. Milk Thistle – Known to heal and protect the liver; boosts Glutathione, an antioxidant that protects the DNA, especially the mitochondria. Milk Thistle also boosts levels of Superoxide dismutase. Milk Thistle is easily purchased as a supplement at your local drug store. It is also a natural cleansing agent.
5. Lecithin – Lecithin can protect your body from iodine-131, cesium-137, and strontium-90, particularly your nerves, and brain. Lecithin also boosts the use of important vitamins A, D, (both of which help remove strontium-90 your bones) and vitamin E which has a number of benefits including protecting the fetus from cesium-137. Some of the best sources for lecithin would be wheat germ, bee pollen, and nuts.
In addition to incorporating the proper foods into your diet to protect yourself from radiation, the best thing you can do to ensure your well being is to keep your mind and body in a high, loving vibrational frequency. Avoid negative people who are focused on violence. Taking space from negative people in your life is one of the best ways to heal and to STAY EMPOWERED and become more Positive. Be willing to let people go who no longer serve you. And be willing to take space from people who you cannot completely get away from… Most important is to stay away from products that damage your body. Avoid processed foods and excessive sweets. Concentrate on love; learn to love unconditionally with your whole being and remaining joyous.
